"Vahset Tanrisi" Theatre Organization

Rotaract clubs, from time to time, arrange art related activities and organizations such as theatre, opera, ballet, and cinema. Theatre is the form of art in which "human is narrated to human in a humanly manner with human" and Rotaractors are well aware of that fact so that they give importance to theatrical activities and organizations.

One of the best organizations for theatre plays was hosted on 19th of October by Besiktas Rotaract Club. More than 100 guests joined us at this special play of "Vahset Tanrisi" written by Yasmina Reza and it was awarded by many and has been capacity house since its debut.

The presentation is performed by Istanbul National Theatre successful stage actors and actresses of Zafer Alagöz, Ülkü Duru, Zerrin Tekindor ve İştar Gökseven since 2009. Smiling and sometimes laughing affects of the presentation on the audience could easily be observed on the faces of each individiual at the end of the night.

The profit of this organization is going to be directed to the annual trademark project, "Make Dreams Real", of Besiktas Rotaract Club. We thank all the attendees and club members who put effort on this organization.

Coffee Seminar- 2

We Rotaractors not only have fun with in-club seminars but also develop ourselves ranging from professional related topics to special interest areas. This particular seminar, which was organized by Professional Development Committee Leader Kerem Coban, was about coffee tasting.

The seminar was held at Bebek Starbucks, which is one of the first established 106 Starbucks franchises in Turkey, and the trainer was well prepared under the guidance of world leader coffee chain stores. The seminar was extremely entartaining and informative just as the first seminar that was also held in Bebek Starbucks. We thank to Starbucks for having us at their store and to Kerem Coban for his effort to make this seminar happen.

Meeting, 8th of October

Semimonthly meetings of the Rotaract Club serve both to decide on what to do during the term and to determine the ultimate decision on matters related to the clubs. The meetings of our own Besiktas Rotaract Club have usually been like brainstorming sessions and that meeting was not an exception in that sense, either.

Most of the members attended to the meeting started at 19.30 and guests of our committee head, Aysegul Altiparmak and our president, Ibrahim Dogan, were with us. In the list of absentees, the presence of our treasurer Tugrul Turhan was felt so bad that whole club missed the opportunity to listen to his precious ideas.

"Vahşet Tanrısı" theatre organization, which is going to be performed on 19th of October at 20.00, was talked over more than the other organizations including "The Tekne" that is on the Republic Day and "New York'ta Beş Minare" cinema premiere party. Other than that, annual trademark project of Besiktas Rotaract Club "Dreams Come True 3" was also another topic that was discussed during the meeting.

Besiktas Rotaract Club has spent its terms always well and effectively; at this meeting we not only talked about organizations and the project but also Kerem Coban, one of our committee head, presented Geneva after spending his summer there. Presentation consists of Geneva's significant characteristics, life style of the residents, plenty of city's photographs and couple videos. We all thank once again Kerem Coban for this great presentation.

The surprise of this amusing meeting, just like the other previous meetings, was the birthday cake for our president, Ibrahim Dogan. Our president told how happy he was with a short speech.

After the meeting, we went to another place and had some drink and had fun together. "We are family" as our District Rotaract Representative Ceren Ayozger stated in its term message on the district web site.

Besiktas Interact Club Meeting

Besiktas Interact Club hold its first meeting of the term on 30th of September at Bebek Kitchenette. Alican KAYA, one of the past presidents of Besiktas Rotaract Club, and Murat AKYOL attended to the meeting whose agenda was mainly about the plans for the upcoming and possible projects. After the meeting, the main topics were education system in Turkey and foreign language.

We first thank to Besiktas Interact Club president Mehmet Cura and then all the friends attended to the meeting for this great occasion which indicates solidarity and unity between the clubs will get stronger and both clubs will help each other on the projects.

2nd "Fireside" Activity

So-called "Fireside" activity of our club is held second time this year on 25th of September at Kanyon Num-Num. These "Fireside"s, which help Besiktas Rotaract Club members strenghten their friendships, are one of the essential values of the club.

Enjoyable Fireside of ours;

We had our meal with pleasure after meeting around 6 p.m. at Num Num and talked "Dreams Come True" project round 3 in detail. After that we went to the House Cafe to have some drink where we also had a fun time.

Term president Ibrahim Dogan, past president Alican Kaya, term vice president Cansu Savas and term treasurer Tugrul Turhan were amongst to the participants to the "Fireside" activity, in which two new candidate members joined to us, other than Can Ceralp and his friend, Oguz Muftuoglu, Murat Akyol, Gizem Yegin and Turker Yigitalp.

Upcoming new projects for the term was initiated and the projects on the way were discussed to be well progressed in the productive and entartaining "fireside".

We are looking forward to third "fireside" activity in October.

District "Reunion" Day

Besiktas Rotaract Club had an excellent time together with its 16 participants to the Annual Reunion Day of RI District 2420, that was organized by Gebze and Galatasaray Rotaract Clubs this year.

All the members arrived to Sisecam Social Facilities via minibuses from Kadikoy and Taksim, and followed by lunch time with specially prepared sandwiches for us alongside with our drinks.

DJ played entertaining and makes-you-wanna-dance kind of music all day long, which he was very successful at. Oh, and also the incredibly talented cartoonist drawed each one's cartoons during the day.

Excitement and joy reached the peak point as soon as the games and animations started. Mid-afternoon was eating time, which we enjoyed it altogether, and we approached to the end of the day after surprise lottery drawings.

The real surprise of the day was the chic pins that were distributed by our District Rotaract Representative, Ceren Ayozger. Reunion 2010 was a day to remember within the clubs of District 2420 and on that day, 2010- 2011 term RI District 2420 Governor Ahmet Kara was also with us.

On the way back, all we have was the smiles on our faces and "yawning" after all the great activities.

We, as Besiktas Rotaract Club, thank all the effort that put into making this day happen.

Let's Make Pizza!

Professional Development Committee organized the last vocational training on "how to prepare and make pizza" at G-Mall NumNum.

After having informative instructions from NumNum Restaurant Chief Dogan on how to roll dough and to choose ingredients, we prepared our very own pizzas.

As usual, we did not miss the opportunity to have a group photo after this fun day.

We thank to our club member Kuzey Murat ERGUL for his efforts to make this event happen.

Darulaceze Visit

We, as Besiktas Rotaract Club, organized a visit to Darulaceze Institute.

After serving hand-made cakes, pastries, patties and pies to the aunties in the Darulaceze, we gave each one of them a basilicum as a souvenir from Besiktas Rotaract Club.

Luleburgaz Rotary Club, that helped us contributing to our project during 2009- 2010 term, once again worked with us on this project by supplying underwears to all the aunties in the Darulaceze. Thanks go to them! Appreciated.

"Kelebek Festivali"

Club president Tugce DOGAN and club members of Besiktas Rotaract Club, Berk GURCAY and Tugrul TURHAN, participated to the activities of Kelebek Festivali, which is a traditional day organized by RI District 2420 for our disabled sisters and brothers.
Our friends, who had a fun time with kids, did their best to make all guests' day good by helping out distributing food and face& t-shirt painting.

Spouses of Luleburgaz Rotary Club Rotarians, whose financial contributions to Kelebek Festivali were extremely crucial for the organization, collaborated with Besiktas Rotaract Club during the day and our friends from Luleburgaz had fun playing and participating in the activities.

Efes Pilsen production facilities trip and "Fireside"

Professional Development Committee of Besiktas Rotaract Club is well aware of the fact that plant trips are as crucial as the guest speakers for the Rotaractors. Knowing that, we organized a plant trip to the filling facilities of Turkey's biggest beer producer Efes Pilsen weeks after Starbucks visits for coffee seminar.

After finishing the plant trip, in which our friends from Altunizade Rotaract Club were with us, Ceren Ayozger- DRR of RI 2420 for 2010-2011 term- joined to us for the greatest and the most extensive "Fireside" organization at our member dear Hilal AKARSU's house.

Thank you so much for each and every Rotaractor, who contributed to those great organizations and participated in them!

May 5th, 2010: Dr. Erol Mutercimler was our guest speaker

Erol Mutercimler, one of the most prominent authorities of Turkey in the field of strategy, was the last guest speaker of 2009- 2010 term at the joint meeting of Besiktas and Beylikduzu Rotaract Clubs.

Upon completing his conversational seminar on "Turkey: from its Past till its Future & the importance of strategy on the management of a country", Besiktas and Beylikduzu Rotaractors got their photos taken with Mr. Mutercimler.

All the Besiktas Rotaractors appreciate the effort and hardwork of our member dear Murat AKYOL for organizing this seminar by convincing Dr. Mutercimler to come our meeting.

Tour de Thrace

We did not miss the opportunity to make a small "Tour de Thrace" during the weekend when we have been to Luleburgaz for Dreams Come True project.

We kicked off the day with a barbecue at Gelibolu, followed by a local dessert session at Hayrabolu. We wrapped up our tour with a group nightout in Luleburgaz alongside with our wines after having our Besiktas Rotaract Club dinner in a local restaurant.

Dreams Came True!

620 children. 500 families. 1000 parents. 6- month long effort. A month long huge marathon of working. A week long, hours taking control. Heck of a good crew, unity and solidarity.

In this year's edition of Besiktas Rotaract Club's traditional "Make Dreams Real" project, the dreams of 620 impoverished students of Saban Ogunc Middle High School in the county of Luleburgaz, Kirklareli have been delivered.

The students of Saban Ogunc Middle high were asked to write their letters, in which have their three wishes they would like to have, within the scope of the project. As soon as the letters got to us; we, as Besiktas Rotaractors, immediately started working on making dreams real in a month of time with the collaboration of a group companies Acibadem Sigorta, Bizitek, Ceva Lojistik, Pfizer, Alcatel- the RI District 2420 clubs of Luleburgaz Rotary, Besiktas Rotary, Yesilkoy Rotary, Nisantasi Rotary, Bebek Rotaract and Luleburgaz Rotaract- and with the help of individual contributors.
The dreams of the students were handed over on May 2nd with the participation of county Director of National Education, Hayrettin Ince.

Many many thanks to each and every fellow- who helped, worked and showed effort throughout the project.

Highest Attendance to the District Assembly!

Besiktas Rotaract Club was announced to be the club attended to the RI District 2420 Assembly, which was organized with a night stay for the first time.

We spent a wonderful weekend during the assembly in which 2009- 2010 term president of our club, Tugce Dogan, was officially introduced to all the clubs of District 2420 as the Assistant District Rotaract Reprsentative for 2010- 2011 term. We congratulate dear Tugce for becoming the first ever District Official in the history of Besiktas Rotaract Club.

All the Besiktas Rotaractors, that are going to be the committee leaders and board of directors members next term, paid the utmost attention to not miss the required seminars and trainings during the assembly.

The happiness and pleasure after getting the prize from 2010- 2011 RI District 2420 Rotaract Representative for being the highest attending Rotaract club and winning various gifts from the lottery during the ball, is obviously clear in the picture taken before checking out from the hotel.

Beykoz Animal Shelter Visit

For the very first time in the club history, Besiktas Rotaractors went to Beykoz Animal Shelter under the scope of an on-going animal rights project.

We donated dog food, regular edibles and various beverages suitable for feeding the dogs, who struggle for surviving under terrible conditions because of the lack of care by the officers in the shelter; and loads of paper and detergent for the cleaning of dog cages in Beykoz Animal Shelter.

A few quick facts about Beykoz Animal Shelter: The shelter is the least visited one in Istanbul because of its location and the public is not aware of the conditions the dogs try to live in. In addition, it is the least funded shelter from the municipality.

During our stay, we worked hard to make palettes, which dogs sleep on in order not to catch a cold during night, better and suitable to sit on since the gaps between the wood pieces can hurt the legs of the dogs and dogs can get infected as a result of the scratchs and wounds.

Besiktas Rotaract Club urges any individual, who is interested in volunteering his or her time to take care of dogs, to go to Beykoz Animal Shelter! Because these dogs need your love!

"Dersimiz Atatürk" Premiere

We, as Besiktas Rotaract Club, hosted the premiere of "Dersimiz Atatürk" at Macka G-mall in order to raise money for Make Dreams Real- II social responsibility project in which 620 impoverished elementary and middle high school students are going to be reached.

Before the movie, all the guests were served by the hand made canapes and appetizers with cocktails and beverages. Our club members did all their best taking care of each and every guests while briefing "Make Dreams Real" project we did last year through the photograph exhibit placed in the cocktail area.

Many thanks to each club member who worked hard to successfully complete the organization.

March 12th, '10: Prof. Dr. Kerem DOKSAT was our guest speaker

Prof. Dr. Kerem DOKSAT, who attended our club's meeting last year to share his vast knowledge in a friendly talking environment, has also been our guest speaker this year with "evolution, history of man kind and Turkey" topic.

Just before the meeting is over, Mr. DOKSAT gave the membership pins to our newest members Can, Cem, Çağrı and Kerem. We, as Besiktas Rotaract Club, once again welcome all our new members to the club.

25th Anniversary Dinner of Besiktas Rotaract Club

Our club celebrated the 25th year of its establishment together with the founding sponsor club, Besiktas Rotary, at Istanbul Buyuk Kulup.

ex- Rotaractors, who served as Presidents in Besiktas Rotaract club, and the old members of our club, who are now members of Besiktas Rotary Club, and the current members of our club had agreed to meet in a similar occasion next year where more current and past members from our club and Besiktas Rotary Club are expected to be attending.

We, as Besiktas Rotaract Club, have the tradition of presenting the Rotaract pins to the newest members of our club, when valuable important guests are with us during casual occasions and this dinner was no exception where our newest members, Hilal AKARSU and Isil GURCAY officially became Rotaractors. We once again welcome them to Besiktas Rotaract Club.

C-Pal Project with Georgetown Rotaract Club

Besiktas Rotaract Club is very glad to announce the joint project with its twin club, Georgetown Rotaract Club of Guyana from RI District 7030.

The project is called C-Pal. Two clubs from different districts will exchange contact information of Rotaractors who will correspond via emails with the objective that Rotaractors will make a new Rotaract friend from a different country and learn of the different culture.

The project is about to start and we, as Besiktas Rotaract Club, are looking forward to e-mails of our friends from Georgetown Rotaract Club.

Our Guest from Czech Republic

Besiktas Rotaract Club hosted Gabriela Bendová, friend from Czech Republic, in our meeting. Gabriela visited our club meeting during her stay in Turkey for her exchange studies.

Our president Tugce exchanged the flags of Besiktas Rotaract Club and Valtice- Břeclav Rotary Club with Gabriela, whose father was the previous terms president of the club.

As Besiktas Rotaract Club, we hosted 2009- 2010 RI District 2420 2nd Group Assistant Guvernor Cem Guceri as our guest speaker. The topic was Rotary Foundation, Scholarships and Exchange Program. We are honoured to have Mr. Guceri as our guest and thank him.

Oct. 1- 15, '09: Schoolbag Help Project

Besiktas Rotaract Club collaborated with Pfizer Pharmaceutical Company and successfully distributed 1000 schoolbags to the students in Kars, Mardin, Ardahan and Luleburgaz. Each schoolbag contains all the necessary pens, pencils, rulers, erasers, notebooks and the like to cover all the needs of one student.

As Besiktas Rotaract Club, we appreciate the support of Luleburgaz Rotaract and Rotary Clubs during the delivery of the schoolbags to the students of Luleburgaz Saban Ogunc Elementary School.

As Besiktas Rotaract Club, we helped Etiler Rotaract Club's second hand clothes distribution project with 10 boxes of clothes.

The boxes were delivered to the organization which is responsible to give out the clothes people who are in need of help.

July 27- Sep. 30, '09: School for People with Hearing Disabilities

Besiktas Rotaract Club helped Goztepe Dost Eller Hearing School build on-going kindergarden construction in the schoolyard.

Aysegul Altiparmak, Rotaractor from our club, contributed significantly to the project by actively selling bracelets and stickers on behalf of "People with Hearing Disabilities and Their Families Organization".

As Besiktas Rotaract Club, we appreciate her efforts.

Aug, 17, '09: Drip Irrigation Technologies Seminar

Besiktas Rotaract Club organized a joint seminar about water, which has been appointed as resource group by Rotary International and Rotary District 2420, with 5th group Rotaract Clubs in District 2420.

Tanfer Dinler, who is the head of Agricultural Insurance Organization, gave the seminar about drip irrigation and its advantages to Turkish agriculture.

July 26- Aug. 6, '09: Cradle of Civilizations: Istanbul

Children of Rotarians from different countries are hosted 1 week every year in the annual Cradle of Civilizations: Istanbul summer camp of Besiktas Rotary Club.

During the camp, we helped our sponsor Rotary Club host the guests. The guests were guided by Besiktas Rotaract Club and all the tourist attractions of Istanbul were briefed to our guests.

The happiness of hosting our guests at best is reflected to the photo taken at the end of farewell dinner.

July 1, '09: Luleburgaz Trip

We organized a night stay trip to Luleburgaz in order both to increase communication between Rotaractors and to thank Luleburgaz Rotary Club for their support and funding to "Making Dreams Real" project of our club.

In "Making Dreams Real" project, Besiktas Rotaract Club helped deliver 495 gifts to the students who wrote their wishes with mails. Our club channelized the funding of philantropists, corporates and Rotary Clubs to make those impoverished students' dreams real.

Luleburgaz Rotary Club covered 50 students' expenses during the projects and we thanked for their support and gave them a plate after the presentation of the project.
